Bottle Advice Time!!!

Hey there all you mommies! As most of you know, I will be going back to work at about 5 1/2 weeks after our little guy is born. I'm looking for advice on the best type of bottles I can use while I'm away, as I am planning to breastfeed.

So far in the research I've done, the top ones are the Avent Newborn and the Playtex Nurser. I also found a new type that's supposed to be great at Babies 'R Us that I'll probably try out. I was planning on just buying one of each to see which works best before buying more, but I'd love some advice if you have any for me!

What bottles worked for your breastfeeding babies and which did NOT?

Ok second try. I said Playtex Nurser. It was really easy to wash up:) Always a bonus at our house. It really will depend on the child. Ellie was picky, Tess wasn't and Mia HATED any bottle!

Your sister is right. It will depend on your baby. All mine would take to a different type. So I have had them all. Olivia was Avent and Landon is Dr Brown. Robyn didn't take a bottle. So I say buy one of a couple types and when you can tell which one he eats the best, then go invest in a few more. I wasted so much money buying bottles I couldn't use with Olivia.

I love the Dr. Browns bottles if your baby spits up. These bottles made the biggest difference. They are a little hard to clean because there are three pieces but I don't mind it.

I made the mistake by not introducing the bottle early enough to Cam. I waited until like two weeks before I went back to work and it was a struggle. I went and bought every bottle out there and the only one that Cam would take was the cheap Gerber bottles. You are suppose to wait like two weeks to start using the bottle and then have Noah give it to him at first. I would use it like once a day or so just so he gets used to it and then as it gets closer to you going back to work start using it more. Don't wait like me because it was so hard on all of us to get Cam to take his bottle!

Chanel used the avent bottles. I gave her a bottle when she was a week old and she did just fine. She liked breastfeeding better. :) Good Luck!

Treygen was so picky!!The only kind he would take was the Nuk bottles. I guess just because the nipple is more like a real one? It kinda flattens and isn't just round...Anyway my friend had the same problem so I showed her the Nuk nipple and her baby took to it well too. If you are doing a binky and you decide to try the Nuk ones and he takes to it well I would definitely try the Nuk bottle too because he will be used to it. Like everyone has said though, all babies are different...Good luck!!! :)

Jack took most any type of bottle, but I did like the playtex ones that were disposable. I have 7 million bottles if you want to try any that I have(many are unusued) because I went and bought tons because I was nervous he wouldn't like anything. I agree with what Lauren said though, and that was exactly what we did. We waited 2 weeks before trying a bottle, and then Max gave it to him. We gave him one every day or so and he was fine with either one. He actually preferred bottles to nursing, so it was always a wrestling match! I think the key is starting them early enough that they aren't too picky. I can't wait for the little guy! We are planning on coming down, but we don't know if we're going to set a date to come, or just wait till you're in labor and decide! Can't wait!!!!!

Four babies - all breastfed - and four different bottles. So I guess my advice is whichever one he will take. Seriously - that is how it worked for me. No two kiddos are alike. However, my personal fave has been the Dr. Brown's bottle (for gas reasons). Cheers, and happy bottle hunting.

Oh - one more thing. I have a theory, which has worked for most of my kids... I use the same nipple on a bottle that I use as a nuk (or as similar as you can find. the nuk brand has a nipple for most types of bottles). The reason is that htye don't have so many types and shapes of things going in their mouth that it gets confusing (then they might refuse them all). If the only other thing going in their mouth besides the breast is the same shape, then you are more likely to get them to take the binky AND bottle.

I really like the Dr. Brown ones... Not sure why I just did... Also, I have really loved my Germ Guardian. It's a disinfecting thing that you just throw the stuff in and push the button. I would throw her binkies and chew toys in at the end of the night and 30 minutes later they were great!

Hey, just writing to check up on you! I hope you're holding in there ok, you're getting soooo close!! I know we live a long ways away and all but if I can do anything for you let me know!!
About the bottles, both my babies have not liked them much. However when Ellie would take one she like the Avent bottles and now Ammon likes the Playtex ones. I love that the Playtex ones are so easy to clean! Hope that helps!
