So Humble...

I can't pretend to be humble today. I have to brag because I am SO proud of myself. I ran my first half marathon! I participated in the PF Chang's Rock and Rock 1/2 Marathon in Phoenix. We ran from downtown Phoenix to ASU. I decided around mile 2 that I'm addicted to running (I didn't feel quite as chipper around mile 10, but I'm still stoked about running!) and that I want to continue to find and do races. That should also help with the last few pounds I'm trying to lose, and the general getting in shape-ness, haha. I like the distance of a 1/2 marathon, but I really think I'd like to try a marathon this year. If not this year, definitely next year at this same event...

Here are a few photos of the race. Mandy Wettstein let me tag along with her, which made things so much more fun. It wouldn't have been as easy without her. We ran at the pace for which she had been training, and it was perfect and comfortable the whole time. We waited until we saw our families cheering for us around mile 12.5, then I used all the gas I had left to sprint as fast as I could to the finish line. I finished in 2:08:10. Not bad for a first time 1/2 marathon.

Looking for our cheer squad...we knew they would be on that corner.

Spotted!

Feelin' good! (Except the dead knees and muscles, of course.)

My partner in crime. Thanks Mandy!

Hip hip horray! Hip hip horray! Hip hip horray! I don't think you have to be humble! I'm proud of you too and told everyone I could think of! I was espcially sure to tell them your time. I'm glad you did it and finished so well. You and Rajko can come and visit ANY time and Grandpa will be glad to have one more little grandchild to help him feed. I won't volunteer to train to run marathons, but would love to have the opportunity to cheer for you!

YAY! You rocked the Rock in Roll Half!! It was so fun to be there. I love the pictures of you guys running and especially the one where it shows the moment you finally found Noah in the crowd. It may have been from Mandy's pics. You should add that one. You looked good out there. You have me tempted to do the next race with you!

Awesome job! That is seriously amazing to me. The only race I've ever ran? A 5K. And I'm pretty sure that was my limit. I am way impressed! Way to go!

Yay! We are so proud of you. How in the world can you make yourself run like that. And I don't know what pounds you had to lose but I didn't see them last time I saw you. Silly girl! Love you and congratulations!

Great job! I am proud, and you should be too. How funny that you feel addicted. I haven't been running since my marathon...almost 7 years ago. I'm not the biggest fan. Keep it up!

Yea!! I am so proud of you! I wish I could have been by your side but we all know that would not happen. At .2 miles i would have said you were on your own and went to get a doughnut. :) We love you so much and are going to miss you guys. We will have to plan another trip.
