Workin' 9 to 5...

So...the most exciting new thing happening in my life is starting work! I was officially hired at the University of Phoenix as an Academic Counselor, and I can happily say that I am loving my training. I really like the corporate world...it's kind of fun to pull into a big parking garage, join the herd of people dressed up all nice carrying their lunches, and use my little security card to badge into the new, nice building where I work. Besides that, I am a chronic nerd, so sitting in a classroom for 8 hours a day learning about boring computer systems and University policy is actually quite enjoyable for me! On top of it all, I cultivated a love for the smell of coffee when I worked at the Gateway, and pregnancy has multiplied that...I get to waft in the fumes of the coffee that surrounds me every morning and periodically throughout the day (especially on friday afternoons when people are trying to stay focused). It is heaven...

To top it all off, I got to buy some new clothes, and I got my first paycheck today!Oh how I love being busy and working hard...
Tomorrow I start doing observations of Academic Counselors currently on the floor (those who are working as AC's) for 4 hours a day then 4 hours of classroom, and Friday I take my final training exam. I do one more week of observations and classroom and then hit the training floor Counseling and contacting my real life students! After 3 weeks of on-the-job training, that's it! I'm a full blown Academic Counselor responsible for helping people graduate with their degrees from college!!!! Isn't that crazy? Definitely a grown up job...wish me luck!

Wow, big girl with a big job. Never thought that you would be the one all dressed up working a regular job from 9 to 5. I thought that you would be hanging out in you pajama pants like me until about noon and then go put on some stretch pants and work until 7 or 8 at night. Where is your baby bump?

Sounds fun. I could go for a little adult job and conversation right now, but instead I will stay in my pajamas and talk baby talk and sing song. I am so glad that you are liking it.

Hi cutie Giselly Girl! So proud of you and your regular job! Are all the regular job people jealous of your svelte little bod? And I agree with Billie Jo... where is that little baby bump? Is there anything there yet? But about the coffee.. YUCK!!! We miss you!

That's awesome. Congrats on the new job. You will do great! That is funny about the coffee. I remember when we worked together at the Gateway and you used to tell me that. I wanna see a baby bump too! I bet you don't really show for a while because you are such a skinny minny! :)

I also love the enthusiasm you have for new challenges in your life. It's always refreshing! I do disagree with the coffee smell, however, because when I worked at Utah State University, I had to make the coffee every morning for the professor I worked for. I always wondered if it tasted okay, but the longer it was plugged in, the stronger it smelled until I could about choke some days. Grandma Bisel always said she loved the smell of coffee--but then her parents always drank the stuff, so there were probably memories attached. Don't get too happy there and decide you're staying, however, or I will have to come and haul you home!

It's been so fun to be working with you and to eat lunch with you every day. I'm so glad that you're there and I have a friend there. We all know you'll be the best academic counselor there in a few weeks. I'm looking forward to working there with you for at least the next several months.

I'm so glad things are working out for you down there.

I too, am wondering about this "supposed" non-stop eating, baby-bump showing Giselle? You look great! I wouldn't have even guessed you're pregnant based on your picture.

So, to answer your question, we do sell the pumpkins off an old wagon in our yard. We have done it for the last 3 years. It is kind of fun. We tend to stay busy- hopefully our weeks get "less" busy.. HaHa-

What a fun job! Nine to five jobs with no weekends or holidays is definitely the way to go. You look so professional and cute, and like everyone else has already said, not pregnant. Lucky girl! I am glad that you guys are doing so well down there!

COngrats on the job. I know you don't know me, but I have an interview for the same position as you and I was just a little curious on how it is going? What's a typical day or week like?
