The Finished Product

So...I got a sewing machine for Christmas, and I do little things with it all the time. I really do use my sewing machine almost everyday for some small thing or another. But I really want to learn how to sew! One day while hunting for fabric for Mom for the pageant, I ran into a sale on patterns--50 cents each! Since they're normally about 10 bucks, I got as many as they would let each person have.

Anyway, I found a pattern that I thought was so cute, and I could imagine any of my nieces wearing it, and I really wanted to make it. Tess's birthday has given me the perfect excuse, so I made it! I'm not completely happy with it...I made a couple big mistakes, but it's fine, and if she wears it even a couple of times I'll be happy. So, let me know what you think (remember I've never really sewn anything in my life, so make sure you're kind...)!

Just to clarify--I only made the top. Although I did alter the bottoms from full leggings to capri leggings. And the pom pons at the top are matching elastics for her hair! It looks a little full lying on the ground, but it hopefully won't be so big to the sides once it's on.

Here's what it should look like...

Wow! I am impressed! I think you are pretty clever and the only way you learn is by doing it! Reading the instructions and understanding them is by far the most difficult part of sewing. Tess will look darling in this and she will always remember that her Aunt Giselle sewed it for her! Good work!Lovies!

Thanks mom! I wanted to rip up the paper with the instructions on it several times--but somehow I made it through with a product that at least resembles the one on the front of the pattern, ha ha.

That is so adorable and I am sooo jealous that you know how to sew since I got mine for Christmas two years ago and am yet to sew anything since I don't really know how to use it! You always go the extra mile to be the best Aunt. By the way, Luke said you were his favorite since you let him stay at your house and eat honeybuns. I had my feelings hurt, but oh well. I'm glad my baby will have such a good Aunt!!!

Ha ha...I'm sure Luke had a ton of fun. Going to two hour dance rehearsal one night then a one hour dance class the next day! I'm glad to hear he had fun, though. Thanks, though, Chels...it really means a lot to me.

Giselle,
Will your talents ever end? You would think as her mother that I should be the one to make her a cute little outfit, but I guess that if it can't be me then it might as well be you! Good job! You will be an accomplished mother when the time comes!!!
